The growing international importance of the world's largest democracy, and especially the similarities in assessments of China's policy, make it a key U.S. partner in Indo-Pacific. Possible tensions around, for example, India's observance of human rights and democratic standards should not jeopardise the bilateral cooperation, which is based on a convergence of strategic and economic interests.
